Since pool 4 is so quiet right now, I just spent the last 4 days on the MN/Canada Border on Lac La Croix – a 24 mile boat trip down the Loon River, fishing with my father. While the numbers of fish weren’t there- the quality was. I’ve attached a photo of a 29″ eye and a 39″ Northern. Both fish were caught on 6lb test line, trolling leeches with a spinner on a 7′ G Loomis custom made “Hot Shot” rod.

Both fish are back in the water, waiting for the next trip!!

I live on Crane Lake in the summer, and know what you are talking about. Next time you travel to LLC, stop on Loon Lake, just as you get into the big left turn going to the portage, and fish that reel off to the right. That reef has produced more eyes in the last 4 years, than LLC has ever given up. All in all, that whole system is an untapped fishery.
