I went out yesterday to try and find some walleyes on pool 9. I started out handlining areas fo rock bottom in 8′-12′ fo water.I was coming up empty. I tried shallower and deeper.I must have given 4-5 different spots that have always produced fish fom me and NA~DA . So I went to the jig tries casting the ringworrm, kalin’s and even tried som tequila sunrise bass worms…..and NA~DA…So by now its midday and I decide to get off these rocks and find some mud…..

Boy did I find the fish.

Most all small but I did manage to pull two legals out before I had to head out. I was pulling 1 Willow Spoon on the bottom and 1 crank up on the 3rd clevis. The Willow Spoon took all but two fish.

I had a GREAT day out on the water and i’m looking forward to trying out pool 2 next weekend.

Nice fish Dave and a nice photo. Here’s a tip for you and anyone else.Try putting one of those different colored super doos on your Willow Spoon while handlining or trolling. Drifting also works with these light weight lures. This is a smaller smallmouth that grabbed this combo while Smitty and I were out fishing. Just thought you would like to check out this combo. I gotta get out and try this one on the Chippewa maybe with a small slip float like the ice buster bobber.I think the smallies will go crazy.

    Mr. Koonce

Did you bait-up with a crawler or leech or forego the live stuff when fishing those willow spoons. Those things should be dynamite on a heavy 3-way!

I used a crawler. It sure seamed to be the bait of choice. After looking back on the day I wish I would have tried tippin the rapala
