I grew up fishing the river from Genoa to DeSoto. The rocks south of Victory were always dependable for some nice eyes! This year it is dead and I was wondering if anyone has any theories? I have been having good success just not in that old reliable spot! Also I have been looking at this website for a couple of weeks and just love it!!! Today I registered and hope to be in contact with fellow walleye hunters on the river!!! Have a good one!

Not dependable is probably the right way to say it. There were fish there from day to day but size and numbers were lower. For the last three years I have watched boat after boat of 3-5 fishermen leave the water with 30- 50 gallon coolers full of fish that should have been left in the water. Females(Sheeba’s), huge males, spawners, it didn’t matter. I think it is finally catching up with us, to some extent. We also had an awful year so far for grass and junk in the water , so trolling has been a pain a huge majority of the time. Last year wasn’t much better . I still saw a lot of drifters catching nice fish this year though. Someone earlier this year said we are in between the good year class hatches now so maybe that plays into the picture. If that is the case we should have incredible years 2-6 years in the future, because we have had some gigantic successful hatches the last couple of years bassed on the huge number of 3-8 inch fish that have been around each year. I would definately agree with the over harvest! Never have been able to figure out why they want to kill those 4# plus fish, or the need to keep one full limit after another of any size legals! A meal for the pan and one meal in the freezer is plenty!!! Lets face there best when fresh anyway.
