Guys/Gals, I’ve never been to Red Wing and that is going to end this fall. Now is the time for me to put in for my fall vacation time. If you had to pick a week, what one would it be? Thanks. The Rook.

Assuming your not a deer hunter I would pick the first week of November…or any week in November prior to freeze up.

The last week of October is usually when the fall bite gets really going on the mississippi. Once the water gets below 50 and into the mid 40’s should be the start of prime time.

Hougie is right on the button!! The best month of the year for consistent quality of big fish is most definitely November. This month is an exhilarating time to be on the water. Big fish, on big baits, in 1′ to 6′ of water. FISH ON!

My favorite week is the deer hunting opener….. a lot less crowded and more relaxing….. and big walleyes!!

and slugs fill the air!.. I love the smell of gun powder in the morning.. its the smell of walleyes…… for sure deer season is prime time…. and that puts a lot of people out of the picture!….. but if your one of them… then despair not.. it can be pretty darn good in late october too…. and it stays good on through December… unit the heavy pressure seems to knock the fishing down… seems like they are still there.. you just CANT make them bite…. well.. maybe I should ammend that…. I cant make them bite…. not consistantly….

If I recall correctly, last fall it seemed that there was a switch flipped on October 15th and the fishing was fantastic all the way till X-mas. You can’t beat late october and november! The weather is still bearable to most and the fishing is second to none! Good Luck!
