I was just wondering if anyone has been catching any walleyes or northerns around here. I am going to be down here on wednsday for the first time and dont know a whole lot about the area. I have a fishing hotspots map but any info on where to go or what to use would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

I haven’t been done there yet but my advice is don’t land your boat at maiden rock if you don’t have to. A smaller 12-or 14ft might be ok but you better make sure you have 4 wheel drive too.

    Good luck,

yeah i found that out, i went there and didnt even try it then i went to stockholm and backed it in and all four tires were in the water and the boat hadnt lifted off yet. So i didnt know where else to go. Any better ideas? These two landings were horrible.

Your best bet is to use the ramp at Bay City and just motor down the lake to Maiden Rock. Its not to far of a trip and the ramp is very nice. Your also close to the head of the lake that way….lots of spots close to fish…or head down to the flats at Maiden Rock. just my two cents…

Ramps are nice but water depth is suspect at best. Better know how to run this area. Just put in at either Everetts if fishing north or the Lower Red Wing Marina by the Days Inn if fishing south. If fishing lower pool 4, Pepin, Wabasha, or Alma all have nice landings and are all free.

We’re staying at Everet’s over the weekend, but were giving some thought to fishing Pepin at some point. Never been there before…is motoring down from Everet’s an option for newbies to the area, or would we be better off to trailer to Bay City? Thanks.

Everetts is fine, there is a nice back channel to run and with the Higher than normal water any reasonable sized boat should be able to run this without a problem. It is about a 4 mile run from Everetts to the Head O Lake.
