Got out on Pepin for a day of fishing with Crossin’ on Saturday. Decided to stay at the bottom of the lake knowing the top was going to be very pressured. It was a good choice even though the catching wasn’t phenominal. We boated quite a few shorts, two eater class fish and of course the mixed bag of sheepers, whiteys and smallies. We got one nice 24″ fish, easily surpassing the 5lb mark. She looked like a fall Mille Lacs eye. I’ve got a pic on my phone, but can’t seem to get it downloaded. I’ll try to post asap.
We trolled all day, working 8 – 12 FOW. Blue was the ticket. For all you pike guys, we had 3 bite offs, darn near sink the board, then nothing. So if you want pike, target the water shallower than 8 feet along any rip/rap shoreline.
good luck!!
