Saturday started out just great until I hit Plainview, FOG,FOG,FOG couldn’t see 50ft in front of my Durango, so the word was SSSSLLLLOOOOWWW, cause I wanted to go fishing !! Made it to Alma Wisconson at 7:22 am to meet up with Flick at 7:00 my fishing partner for the day. No Flick !!! Waited around untill 8:00, Figured he was wore out from a HOT date on Friday nite and I started to get itchy ! Sorry we didn’t make the connection, because I sure would have liked to have two more poles in the water.
Had a target in mind so I went south bound. I wanted to fish a pinch where I could find some faster current and several wing dams close togeather. My target was north of marker # 745, on the east side of the chanel where there are 10 or 11 wing dams which pushes the current away and around Sand Run Island . Made a couple of electronic runs and marked fish through out the entire run !! “GREAT” I do trust my electronics ! Where I see them, I fish them ! Went above the wing dam system Started my kicker and put out the long poles rigged with 3 way rig, it took 3/4 oz lead to keep the rig on the bottom. The inside line I had to run out 35ft of line to keep in contact with the bottom, on that rod I put on a !/4 oz Mepps SF14A S-S “Spin flex” got it into the water and started to rig up the out side rod when “BANG” the first fish of the day and I haden’t even got my second rod into the water !!! I thought HERE WE GO my hunch was right all had to do was fish them ! The first fish was respectable, a 19 incher is a great way top start out the day ! I finally got the other pole in the water, rigged it with Hawger”Walley Willow” It to took 35ft of line to keep it in contact with the bottom. All this time I was fishing in 12ft of water or less letting my boat slip back towards the wing dams trying to find the slack water, letting the current move my boat in and out and using my main motor as a rudder, this way I can face towards the stern and watch both poles. On the first wing dam I got the prize of the day a 26 incher nice fish CPR !!! In the next two hours I took another 19 incher and a 22 incher, and between
the Walleys there were several White perch and one cat that kept me interested ! I did use plastic on both lines, on the inside line I used Mister twister “EXUDE” Goby mite with a pinch of crawler, on the out side line I used a shortened “camilion ring worm” with a pinch of crawler! As you can tell I always use real meat, because I know what Tofue taste like, tastes like something , but the texture just isn’t there ! All fish were released alive and well, to be caught another day ! Well about 10:30 all hell broke loose when the party barges started comming and going, couldn’t keep on a pattern that I wanted, the waves, I MEAN WAVES were so violent that they made fishing this area impossible ! Headed to Alma to fish the dam, picked up a few shakers and a few perch, about 12:30 I decided to head north to Everts to see if anybody was there. Talked with Steve Vick for a while, sounds llike he had a GREAT time in Canada. Put in went down to Fishermans cut to see if anything was going on, picked up a few shakers and figured I had had enough for one day !! So if you lay out a game plan and stick with it and put in a little electronic scouting, your day will probably be as successful mine !
