    Hey all,

Since the walleye bite has slowed a little(at least for me) I was wondering if any would like to lend a
hand share info on pool 8? I have only shore fished 8 and 9 in the past, but would like a push in the right direction if at all possible. I could do the fish
below LOck and dam #7 or below the dam at Genoa, but that fun usually wears thin.

If no fishng spots, how about recommending access spots. WHat are the ramp conditions like?

I am looking for walleye, feel confident enough in smally fishing, but I am “open ears”!

Thanks a ton!! See ya on the water!!!!

Here are a couple of suggestions:

You may want to try the Pool 8 fishing float. My uncle owns and runs it. You can reach someone that can give you more info here: 608-783-2286. Just ask how you can get on the fishing float.

Drive down to pettibone park and fish from shore just north of the pettibone beach. There is lots of rip rap and good current breaks there along with a couple decent wing dams. Smallies, walleyes and even northerns can be caught there. Plus the view is pretty nice.

    Thanks for the info Hougie!

However, I prefer to avoid float fishing, too restrictive for this guy. Being in a boat definitely has it’s
    advantages!

Anyone else? Recommended ramps and spots on Pool 8 or 9? Thanks alot people!

Oh…well than I would just put in at Clinton St. and head out to the main river and start fishing wingdams and rip rap shorelines. Throw cranks rattle traps, shad raps, bandits, bombers, fat raps etc. Try the tops of dams or the front face.

Walleyes from shore? Try the point of Isle La Plume where swift creek slits off the main channel. Have caught lots of nice eater here. Nothting huge, but just good size eaters, 15-19″ fish. You will tangle with a few smallies here as well. Also try the rip rap along the entire shore on the island.

    Good luck.
