Pool 16 or 18?

I am new to fishing the river and new to walleye fishing so I have been a lurker and soaking up what knowledge I can from this sight. My question is would my time be best spent learning pool 16 or 18 if I am mainly after walleye. Any opinions would be appreciated.

To answer your question ,both pools hold good numbers of walleye, but as close as you are to new boston, That would be my choice. That has always been a hot area and there is much less recreational traffic. I live on pool 16 but my fellow staffer Tony Apisa has the eyes so thinned out here I fish 18 as much as I can. After returning from pool 4 a couple years ago ,I went straight to 18 to see if walleye in new boston would eat a super doo like they did up north…..They have no idea where they live Good luck and let us know how you do, Glad to have you aboard

Welcome to the site. I’ve been fishing the area right above and below Muscatine myself for several years now, so I am still learning it too. I was thinking of heading there this coming weekend with the water levels falling, but I might wait until this cold front is through.

Tony I almost contacted you about the open seat last sunday, but child # 5 is due within the next few weeks. Once the baby is born I am going to take a week of vacation to get mom and baby home and hopefully spend a day on pool 18.

Thanks for the info I knew there had to be some others on the site who fished these areas. I’ll probably spend a lot of my time on pool 18.
