One year aga i baught my first legend elite rod, which was the green one. 6 ft ml fast action and that was my baby. I know they run into money but i fealit was worth the extra dollar.
Well yesterday on my way to the illinois river i stopped in Utica, Illinois at Cajun Bait and tackle and what do i come acrost a rack of brand new, last year’s model at a discounted price . So i loved my last one so much i baught another one but this time i went with the 6 ft light fast. Fished with it the other day and now that is my favorite (cost to much rod), wife says.
The new style legend elites are made different,(for better of for worse). My personal feelings are for the worse, can’t tell you why but they seem heavy and unbalanced. Has anyone else had this experience.
My cabela’s XML rod that ive is a 7’6″ light action , feel is close to being as sensitive ans the st. croix for less money. Just my opinoin though.

Hmmm, something does not sound right to me. I work at a retailer that carries St. Croix rods and the word we get is that the price is set by St.Croix and no one is allowed to sell them for less.

Glad you like you new rod, sounds like a dandy.

Sounds fishy. What are the actual numbers on the rod?

The new Legend elites are brown w/gold flake rather than green. Last fall on our way to and from our Winnie fishing trip we stopped at Owatanna and they had the green LE’s on clearance. I inquired why and they stated the line was changing and they were clearancing out the old line. I would assume that Cabelas wouldn’t strain their relationship with St. Croix – so guessing they can clearance out old lines when they are prepping to buy into the new line.

Not sure I would like the new handles either – they do look heavy – but I build mine custom from St. Croix blanks and get the handle I want upfront with either graphite or cork tennessee handles. Chuckles
