I am new here but have noticed that no one has ever mentioned using baits that are coated with salt for walleye. Nor do any of the advertisers on this site offer this option on their products. However this is very common for bass fishing. Is there any reason for this?

YUM baits have salt on them. When I shorten a ringworm, which I do occasionally, I habitually bite the plastic instead of cutting it. Salt tastes terrible and is hard to get out of your mouth!!

But I think the reason most walleye plastics don’t have salt on them is becuase it isn’t necessary. The way most river guys fish them walleyes don’t get to examine the plastic long enough for it to make a difference. Maybe for finesse tactics in lakes salt could make a difference? I use power crawlers on spinner rigs all the time, and fish seem to eat those just the same as the real deal. Maybe they wouldn’t without the scent???

No reason I know of. I like the Berkley power tails soaked in salt. I also love the Ringies and Super Doos. I think if you are fishing plastics it is important to carry a arsenal.
I have out fished Ringies and Doos with salted baits and the other way around also.
Finding what the eyes want on any given day can be a trick.
    Good luck fishing
