Heading up to Pool 2 on Sunday. I will be launching at Lilydale and I was wondering if anything is happening up river from the confluence? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey Midnight!
I was out there from 4-7:00 pm yesterday and got the big gooseegg. Midnight might have been the time to be out on the water. I haven’t heard any good reports from anyone who was out yesterday. We marked a lot of fish at the confluence but got no takers. My buddy and I are rookies on 2 so somebody else may have been cleaning up.

I was out on Easter and only got two small ones. I was below the island below the dam and there was a small “hotspot” where I saw someone catch a few the day before. Slow and not very big.

Went out Sat. from 6:30 to 2. No bites. There must have been 25 other boats out there and the only action I saw was one guy getting bit off by a little snake. I think this warm weather will increase the action. I marked a lot of fish. You may want to talk to Steve “The Man” Dezurik. He seems to know pool 2 like the back of his hand.

If you can, book a trip with Dee Zee. He knows Pool 2 like no other!

It was a zero for us today. Maybe things will turn around by the weekend. A little rain sure would help group some fish together. Fishing first light or after dark might be a good plan also.

I fished pool 2 Saturday afternoon 2-6:30 pm. We landed 5 walleyes with the largest being a 26.5″ . 1 up next to the lock and the remainder on the Lilydale side of the hole just up from the confluence. They came from 17-19ft. of water on the side of the hole. It was very slow there though and the water temps were hovering at 39-40 Degrees.
Monday afternoon I was on pool 4 with a “ton” of others. Water temps there were around 46 Degrees. 1 – 5″ walleye for the day mixed in with a number of other rough fish. It was very slow for us there. With the warmer water there though, I would guess the spawn should be going now/soon. Good luck.

    Midnight,

The last handful of outings has been dealing with alot of changes. THe flows has come up quite a bit since last Friday. THe clarity has dropped significantly to about 8″. THe water levels have come up as well, but not alot. The traditional spots that has been producing for me shallow have changed as expected. I have had to get out of the current a bit and fish some of the slacker waters adjacent to the main flow. Throw a feeding shelf in this area with some deeper water nearby and you may want to check it out. With all the changes lately, the bite has become a better day bite as of real recent than the lowlight periods that has been productive for me up to this point. Midday with some sun has been good. Chartruese color patterns have been working best. The best deoths for me have been 2-8 foot of water. Wingdams, rip rap and sand. Some backwater areas should start to produce some fish as well. Water temps appear to be right around 43 degrees as of yesterday.

Numbers have still been a bit low overall, but you will find that if you find one, you will mostlikely find a couple more real close with the feedbag on. So staying on them while the getting is good is critical.

    Good luck to you!
