Looking for suggestions on where to fish this coming friday. I have a day off and was wondering if lynxsville would be a good choice (I never fished it before) or should a stay closer to home and fish Dubuque or Bellvue. My buddies had some good sucess at Bellvue on Sunday boating a couple 5# and an 8#, a numerous smaller ones. What would you guys do?

If your buddies are getting fish like that at home i would stay home and fish.Unless you just want to get away.

If a road trip is what you want ,,,,Lynxville isn’t bad…it is a fun place to fish and easy to learn…

If catching dinner is what your looking for and the boys at home are on fish..Hang tight…the bite up at Lynxville is on again off again…when they are on…THEY ARE ON !! when there off…it’s mighty slow…

Good Luck , where ever you end up !!

I would save the gas money and fish either DBQ or Bellevue. I was out on Saturday for a couple hours and again on Sunday at DBQ and did alright. Sunday we had several nice saugers in the 17″ to 18″ range and we caught and released four walleye that were each right around 21-1/2″. These were all big males (long & skinny). Only one short walleye and no eaters but then we mainly targeted the saugers.

Dubuque, Bellevue and Clinton should all have good numbers of fish as these pools had closed tailwaters from December 1st until March 15th.

I say save the gas $$ and spend the extra couple of hours you would spend driving out fishing. I envy you guys who can fish during the workweek.

Anything going on at Lynxville lately? Sure is a lot more water ripping through, and the temps sure came up. I’ll be up this weekend, just wondering if I need to bring the secret weapons.

I fished the float last Saturday, 3/26. The bite was not red hot to say the least. 3 Amish boys, my father-in-law, and myself each kept 3 fish a piece. We all caught Saugers, from 15″ to 18″. I caught one nice perch, 13-1/2″. Fish were caught on plastics and livebait. We caught a fair number of dink Saugers. Right before quiting time for the day launch, one guy caught a really nice Walleye, looked to be a 2+ lber. He was jigging a purple twister or ringworm on the rock pile in the center of the float. The night bite is producing some really big fish also. There was a 9+ lber caught the Friday night before I got on the float. The night float stringers were great, with everyone taking limits of nice fish.

    Good fishing,
