Slipped out of work today because I was “sick” and I am glad I did. Caught fish pretty consistently all day and managed to take home a limit of 16″-18″ saugers; all but one being males. I am totally sold on these ringworms. I have been a live bait guy my whole life but decided for the last two days to try plastics and today I was catching fish when nobody around me was. Started with a green 1/4 oz jig and the chartreuse pepper ring worn and had to change the ringworm at one point because the fish were tearing it up. I can a test that when you get a hit you know it. Basically I would drag it down river with the current and hold it off the bottom and work it up and back down occasionally. All in all it was a good day to be out on the water. I have to say thanks to all the folks that post here on how to use these plastics. I don’t think I would have caught the fish I did today just vertical jigging with a minnow like the old days. Thanks again.

Great to hear you had a successful day. Has anyone had any luck downstream from the dam? I fished Running Slough just dragging a hair jig backed with a minnow. Lots of fish and a good time.

After weeks of talking back and forth on the Shout Box, I finally got to meet Bret at Dresbach today. He offered a seat in his boat so I jumped at the chance. Bret is a super nice guy and knows the area pretty well We didn’t hammer the fish, but we had a good time. It was kind of funny because Bret called every fish before it was caught. We would be drifting along and he would say, we should get a bite right here and WAM, we would get a fish. I think he is psychic We caught a handful of short eyes and saugs and I 19″ and a 20″ eye in 13-16 fow using ringworms and super doos. Thanks Bret for taking me out and showing me around, it was appreciated. Hope we get to go again sometime

The bite was not as hot for me today as the post I had yesterday “shallow water eyes”. The river is up another 2 feet from the other day. Found some short ones and saugers. Only one decent eye. Lucky for him I ate his brother last night I didn’t have much time to chase them around to find other fish. Had to come home early today. The wife and kids have threaten to put my picture on a milk carton

Just a heads up. Even in the wind today there were eyes to be had. Pulling a three way with a #7 rapala. Orange and gold was the color today. Thanks for the tip D&J Riversports Nothing real big but at least there were fish to be had. Strippers are still hitting also. Had to bail out the boat 3 times taking on water back trolling.
I finally was able to meet Slop Bass and B.C. at the Clinton St weigh in today also. They made me feel right at home even though I’m a eye and cat guy. If you have never been to one of these Bass weigh ins you should stop. Very impressive.
    Good luck fishing people
