Heading out to Pool 2 w/ my old man tomorrow. He still isnt sold on river fishing, so I would like to get him on some fish. I can’t decide between 494 and confluence area. Any reports would be helpful….also, Lilydale should be OK tomorrow for a 4×4 right????

We will only be on the water from noon-4pm or so.

    Thanks for any help guys!

I ws on P2 yesterday afternoon for a short while. No fish at the airport. Maybe because someone was periodically blowing off very loud noisemakers at the end of the runway. Scaring away birds I guess. I found saugers in deep water in the Lilydale area though. From the water the Lilydale ramp looked to be in pretty good shape. I saw a boat working the mid river channel upstream from Lilydale pretty hard so maybe they were onto something there.

Was out at about 8:30 today until around 2:00. Worked the wingdams from the 494 launch up to the airport, nix. Fishing the deep water produced 3 fish, 1 eye and 2 really nice sauger, 19 inchers. Trolled the riprap for a while down at the sunken barges, nix……nice to be out, but the catching was tough. Tomorrow again, we will see what happens..

Sounds like you did ok pfluggy

We decided to head out to the river tonight, we fished plastics mostly, ringworms and superdoos, and we caught nothing. That being said we fished basically the confluence and up. Didn’t mark more than a couple fish, so as I thought, it appears the fish haven’t moved up to the dam yet. I should’ve fished the wingdams, I think. Talked to one a couple people out on the water, all but 2 said they got nothing. One guy caught a couple eye’s, jig and minnow, and another caught a small smallie.

All that said who cares it was awesome out there, the boat fired up right away after a 3 month sleep.

Parking was ridiculous at Hidden falls all the stupid park goers parked in all the trailer parking, barely leaving enough space for my truck and trailer, I pity the poor guy who parked after me. I called the local P.D. they seem to car not about the big signs that say trailer parking only. Funny I thought st.Paul really liked to ticket you for anything…

Lilydale was used today. Saw two trailers in the parking lot. There was still some snow and ice at 3:00 but that is probably gone or almost by now. LILYDALE IS OPEN!

I think I may have been the 1st one to use Lilydale this year. I wasnt overly confident that I could get out, but we had no trouble. I still wouldnt do it with a big rig or no 4WD though.

The weather was beautiful. The fishing was….well, the weather was beautiful.

    Dave,

Thanks for the update on the ramp. HE is a pic I had from last Thursday. I am sure it looks a bit better than this by now. The fishing this past weekend was a bit slow as well. A small flurry at sunup and sundown and that was really about it.

Yeah, better. The last 6′ of the ramp is snow/ice free. But there is still soft ice at the top.
