Had a decent sauger bite today. Chartruse pepper and catalpa super doos were the hot bait. Caught fish in 18 to 28 feet of water. The bite was pretty good until around 9:00 then it slowed down, after that we would get 2-6 fish per drift. My buddy Dale Gappa is in the pic with a nice sauger.

Nice photos Kerry. Dale’s fingers look a little chilled though.

A friend of mine and I did well on sauger as well but our best bait was a pink pearl superdoo for bigger fish and fatheads for alot of smaller fish. Gonna have to put another order in to BFT after today Will be eating them shortly in fact (the saugers ) Such a beautiful day and I saw a lot of guys from IDA out there but didn’t say anything to any of them because they seemed too intent on catching fish No digital camera or would show some nice saugers (15-16″ were the best and they were FAT!) Hopefully some others will wiegh in as well cus’ I saw a BUNCH!

We actually did pretty good after noon. Again ,like Hawg said,Chart. pepper was my ticket. That is ,I think my goto setup! We really did’nt do much till afternoon. Nice to see all the IDA’ers down there too. Little B,Big B, Hawg and a couple others as well.

Gary and I fished from 3 – til dark. We didn’t have a great day, but we managed 5 nice walleyes, 16, (2)19 and (2)21+. The southeast wind made for a chilly afternoon and of course boat control was another issue. If you ever see a Fishawk doing circles down the river, it’s probably me. Our best colors were orange/chartruese ringworm. It was great visiting with some of the IDA guys who I haven’t saw in a while. I hope to see you next weekend at FYB tourney. The long range forcast sounds promising so we should have a great turn out.

Had a good day on the 27 – over 50 fish mostly sauger. Chartreuse was the color with a green/white jig head and ringworm being the best producer. Most of the fish were above 14″ – biggest was a 22″ eye. Fishing the channel edge from first wingdam down. Hard to detect bites with gloves on but we managed. We hit the wingdams at dusk and marked a lot of fish there but could not get a bite going.

Has there been anything big being pulled out of pool 4 yet.

I cleaned a few fish to eat – all males. Don’t think the big females are there yet. That said we had a couple of big ones get off on the way to the boat. When you set the hook and nothing moves you know you hit a big one. We didn’t head down river past the Y – the pigs may be there.
