The dam is still producing a ton of white bass. They are hitting on the rocks at the dam on either side. Hair jigs, twister tails, spinners, jig n minnow…..all are working great! There are a few walleyes being caught from the resort here all the way up to the dam. Trolling crankbaits has produced some nice fish lately near the resort. Plastics/cranks and hair have been putting a few in the boat at the dam. It’s not a numbers game anymore at the dam for the walleye, but there are still some nice fish being caught. As far as the lake goes, read James’ or Dustins latest report. They have really been fishing the heck out of the lake lately. From what they have told me, they have been doing pretty good all over the lake. Trolling cranks and casting wingdams has been the best. I know there is a real good sauger/walleye bite going on trolling #5 shad raps along the riprap above and below lake city. I have not had any reports as far as smallmouth or largemouth go. Hope this helps a little. Like I said, your best bet would be to read the pool 4 report james put up a couple days ago. Good Luck!
June 14, 2002 at 2:18 pm #244381Thanks for the info this should help. I would like to learn more about the lake. I have only fished 1 time by baycity along the tracs. I hadnt ever really checked the home page so I did click around it and read james report thanks again.

About the only thing I’d add to my latest report is that I’ve had good luck the last two days pulling #2 colorado blade spinners in silver and brass ahead of a med. sized leech. Bead color has been either all chart. or a red/chart. mix and the fish have been really putting the KA-pow on that combo. Nothing going for me in these areas on a plain hook and leech. I’ve been running this presentation behind a 3-way rig in 8′ – 13′ of water.
June 17, 2002 at 11:48 am #244445I second James’ report. Couldn’t buy an eye with cranks, but the leech/spinner combo paid off…and he isn’t kidding about the KAPOW!
June 17, 2002 at 2:49 pm #244453From what I’ve caught and heard, fishing is pretty good nearly everywhere on Pool 4. Yesterday I didn’t have to do anything except troll cranks and caught lots of fish. Many big sauger, tons of walleyes, and even more white bass. The white bass bite is phenomenal right now. I’ve landed two in the last week that went 5 lbs. and 4 1/2 lbs. Craw-colored #5 rap is all I had to use yesterday all day long. Good luck!

June 17, 2002 at 3:52 pm #244458Ok I must be doing something very wrong. I and a friend trolled from Pepin City
Pickel Factory launch area north to reef that sticks way out across from lake city.
It’s the one with the big bouy on the end and it’s very shallow. We cut across the lake to
just below Lake City and went south to just beyond Pepin city and cut back across lake
and called it a day. Trolled from 6 feet to 15 feet zig-zagging trying to put some hours
on my motor to break it in after being rebuilt. Tried different baits as this trolling route took us
from 7:00 am to just about 2:00. We shut down tried drifting a couple of times
but I’m sure we trolled for at least 6 hours. Varied trolling speed from slow
to probably 3.5 or 4mph. Had to clean of baits a lot due to catching grass or zeebs
and could tell something wasn’t right. I have a couple more long days of trolling to do
as I need to put on roughly 20 hours of low rpms and I have probably 14 to go. Let me guess
this isn’t the area to troll right now. LOL We did catch a few fish but no eaters they were too small.
I plan on being back soon so any help will be appreciated. SteveJune 17, 2002 at 4:17 pm #244459Im Pumped up for this weekend thanks for all the great info.I hope it pays off.
June 18, 2002 at 3:26 pm #244492MWChiefs- Are you catching this fish in the river or in the lake? Not looking for exact spots (unless of couse you want to tell!), just an idea of where to start. I’m heading down to the river in the next couple of days to try and locate some fat eyes’.
June 18, 2002 at 3:37 pm #244494Bri, I’ve been catching the big sauger at the head of the lake, where the back channel comes in, right in front of Kat’s cut. The walleyes just down from Bay City Flats along the rocks on the WI side. I’ve been trolling all along there and it seems like I’ll pull up a dozen or so ‘eyes, then 50 yards up, I’ll catch a dozen or so white bass, then back to the ‘eyes. Like they’re grouping up by species or something. The white bass are in the back channel just down from the power lines, too. The best thing to do is to read the reports by James and Dustin. They’re the guys in-the-know. Both have submitted detailed reports in the past week or so that are right on the money. Good luck and maybe I’ll see ya out there this week!
