The sauger bite was pretty good early in the morning until around 9:30, then it slowed down. We started our drifts just below the hole by the dam in 28 feet and drifted down to the 1st wing dam. 22 to 25 feet was the most productive depth with a few coming from 15 to 22. Super doos were our best bait. Hot colors for the day were pumpkin chartruse, catalpa, bubblegum, and chartruse pepper.

I did make it out on Thursday, spent most of the time downstream looking for a bite, did’nt find anything down to the head of the lake. Take care…

Thanks for the report Kerry. From what I am hearing is that the super doos have been the bait to use. Nate and Todd were out Saturday and super doos worked for them too. I know they were experimenting with a bunch of different colors but haven’t heard yet which ones worked best for them.
    Thanks, Bill

Kerry, sounds as if you had some fun, awesome weather none the less. Richard and I went up on Friday with a mix of jigging presentations, found that the buktails brought in the bigger fish. Ended up with a good bag of 3 15.5″-16″ and 2 over 18″ mixed walleyes and saugers. Around Haycreek to Baypoint.

Here’s a picture of THE fish of the day on Saturday morning

Lots of fisherman out but not many fish being pulled in (other than the guys right up in the hole)

You said it Kerry,I got there about 9:30 found it to be pretty slow! Ended up like Jake with only one fish in the boat!
Except mine was a 20 inch wallerd! Nice fat one!
Got him on a oyster shell Kalin in about 18 feet.
Also got a visit from the Sheriff, who kindly reminded me to put the 07 license sticker on when i got home.

We stuck it out Sat until dark and the wait was worth it. Very active bite on the wingdams from the tip all the way to shore. Better fish were closer to shore and right on top of the dam. Nothing over 18″ but the fish were very aggressive. Late morning and early afternoon were slow – couple of smallies, one 14″ crappie and a lot of missed light biters. Fish just didn’t appear to be schooled up. Great day to be out though.

Chris, does your sweety know you are having ALL this fun while she gets warm in Mexice and then back to slaving away at work? Glad to see you were able to be out alot and back on the board. Great seeing your mug shot on the site. Well with the Lord answering everybodies prayers and you on the mend I suppose you are getting anxious for spring too so you can put the ice rods away and get out the St. Croix rods and get your new fishing machine back on the water too. Take care Bud. Look forward to seeing you on the river this year.
    Thanks, Bill

Tuck, I kept my eye on you waiting for a photo op. You must have layed down in the bottom of the boat to eat your tuna sandwiches. It was good to see you out and about. Take care…
