Fish’d with Dustin Yesterday

I’ve fished Pool 2 and for walleyes all through MN and Canada and thought I knew what I was doing. Yesterday I had the chance to fish Pool 4 with Dustin Stewart. It was my only 2nd trip to Pool 4. I thought I’d hire a guide and see what I could learn. I got a crash course on trolling techinques, boat control and what to look for in locations to find walleyes. This day will definitely make me much more dangerous on Pool 4. Dustin showed how to catch fish, even though the conditions weren’t the best. We had high blue skys, dead calm, following the cold and rainy weekend. In 1/2 a day we boated 15 or so walleye, a bunch in the 14-19″ range and a 24.5″ fish.

Not only did we catch, Dustin was great company on the water and was eager to show me the ropes.

I had a great time as well. Looking forward to doing it again in the future. Just make sure you bring that 15′ trolling rod that your dad had made. That is one sweet piece of equipment I must say.
