Hey boyz, I need a little guidence on this .

I recieved a niffty little hanging crankbait tackle box for Christmas this year (Thanks Grandma ), and now I feel obligated to fill it .

So, what are some of the cranks I simply cannot be without while fishing for river walleye…..size, brand, and color. I don’t do a whole lot of trolling (because trolling is stupid ) so these would be specifically used for casting to wingdams, riprap, and perhaps some flooded willows .

Please, help me spend my $$$$!!!!

Shad Raps size #5 and #7 in firetiger, crawdad and perch. Fat Raps in the same size and colors. And a few of the lipless crankbaits in the same colors. Enjoy!
    Thanks, Bill

Don’t forget the jointed shadraps and the wallydivers, along with some bombers.

    Jake,

My favorite wingdam crank bait is Bomber’s Model 5A & 6A sizes. THe Fat Free Shad is also a goody for this approach.

The new Deep Rogue Junior is a new one that just came out that will be a good one!

I’ll agree on the Fat Free lures. Love ’em.

    Fat Free Shad

I also like the Ka-Booms. I have bought them for as low as $1.99 from Cabelas. Keep an eye out for sales.

Wally divers in size CD5 and the Bomber model 5A’s for shallow stuff along with #5 and #7 shad raps and lipless crank baits.

Bomber 6A’s, 7A’s and 8A’s for deeper stuff along with #7 RS shad raps and fat raps fit the bill pretty god for me.

Firetiger, any of the craw colors, and some shad colors are hard to go wrong with

I added a bunch of the Grapler shads from Cotton Cordel to my arsenal this past fall. I’m looking forward to giving them a good work out this season

I was at Cabelas in Prairie Du Chien today. They had crankbaits in a bargin box. #5 and #7 shallow diving shad raps….good for flooded willows…..were $2.79. They were $5.59 originally. Little cheaper than the higher dollar value at Wal-Mart usually, but not too often you get em for $2.79. Actually the #7’s were $2.99. Still a good deal. #7 fat raps were $2.89 as well. Great wingdam cranks. Colors on the shad raps were limited, but they had sliver blue, clown and a few other colors.

Have any of you guys tried the Storm Hot n Tot? I got one for a birthday present last year, threw it in the bottom of the box underneath the shad-raps and bombers…until one slow night on the croix I decided to give it shot. (You know, a guy will try most anything after a and nothing biting) and WHAM I found a new trolling bait! It’s a small bodied bait with a large rounded lip that runs deeper than the similar size raps and has a very erratic motion – for under $4 it’s worth a shot. F.T., and the Gold colors produced for me on a few different bodies of water.

One thing about it though, I bought another one that had a metal snap on the front (that I assume was intended to improve the action ) and it doesn’t work at all.

They work great in warm water in the summer with that action they have. Thanks, Bill

For casting to wingdams walleyedivers and grapplers . I have never like shadraps for casting to wingdams because they just dont seem to cast as far and also they dont dive as deep. Shadraps are great for trolling with leadcore. Jon what kind of depth do you get out of those fat free shads (both sizes)?
