This is a follow-up to the recent post about a GIGANTIC 33″ walleye caught by one of our visitors, BrianF, on the Mississippi River. Questions flew about all the usualy specifics… who, what, where… and all that. So, here’s the pics and some background info on this particular angler catch of a lifetime!

Here’s the rest of the story in his own words…”33″ RELEASED Walleye – 19″ girth. Jig & Minnow. Mississippi River near Brainerd. Fishing was slow all morning with just a few short bites. It was windy, rainy & cold. My fishing partner suggested me move, and I’m glad we did! The fish hit on the first cast, I thought I had a nice Northern and was afraid I’d get bitten off. When she came finally to the boat all I could say was “Get the net! Get the net!” After a bunch of pictures we eased her back into the river. Maybe she will be a state record some day. A fish of a life time!”

Since 33″ walleyes are super rare, this calls for TWO pics!

    Good fishin’

You know posting photos like that sure makes it hard for a guy when he can’t go fishing due to sitting at home with the flu. It kicks in withdrawals along with all the other yuk stuff from the flu. Thanks James, LOL. Bill PS. Great fish, nice going!

    Hey Brian,

Do you think the fish is spawned out already?? It’s an amazing specimen of what the Ole Miss has to offer. Thanks for letting her go!!
