I’m hoping to get out for a little while Saturday afternoon. With the slow wingdam bite, I might try for numbers and vertical jig. Anything happening around Lilydale? Are the saugers in the deep hole just above the ramp? I need to catch some fish!
We tryed lillydale 2 weeks ago with not much going on there. Tryed the deep hole and the main channel around there. There is a thick school of fish sitting in the bottom of the hole. Joe managed to hook a couple of sheepies and a cat.
Last year at this time there was good fishing right in front of lillydale landing.
On wensday we did find a couple of fish vertical jigging the airport. If you are looking for action there is a large school of white bass behind the long wingdam there also.

Mike, thanks for the info. I followed your reports last year and had a good sauger bite in January in the deep hole. By that time the walleye bite had slowed.
As long as the weather doesn’t get nasty, I’m going to give it a shot this PM. I’ll try vertical jigging first then I might pitch some jigs.
I had a quick 2 hours at Lilydale – notta. Lot’s of fish in the hole above the landing but I don’t know what they were.
