Steve,Carl and I thank you again for the trip on Monday. Its really a treat to just concentrate on fishing and have someone else do all the work (e.g. position the boat, pick-up the anchor, decide when/where to move). We both learned a lot which was our main objective. Now I need to find some time to use what I learned.

This was my second trip with you (the first was on Mille Lacs). Both were great experiences.

If anyone is looking for a guide on pool 2 or Mille Lacs, hire Steve Dezurik.

    See you on pool 2!

Gopher, how did you get to go on a trip with the infamous Dezurik?

I’ve been trying to for over a year now!

Sound like you had a great time…which would be keeping with his reputation!

    Gopher,

Thanks for spending the afternoon/evening with me. I am glad you found the trip educational and enjoyable. I had a great time as usual!

For those that wanted a little recap of our Mille Lacs trip together in the fall of 2003….here it is.

    October 2003 Mille Lacs trip

This particular trip, Jim put a clinic on in the boat and caught some very respectable fish including a personal best of 28″. We tried to beat that record the other night on Pool 2, but failed to connect with anything over 26″. They are waiting for you out there Jim!

    Good Luck on Pool 2!

Briank, my wife gave me a 1/2 day trip with Steve as a b-day present and I split the guide fee with a colleague. My Mille Lacs trip with Steve was also a b-day present. If you can get the coin (x-mass, b-day presents) its money well spent.

Amen to this thread. I have fished with Steve twice as well. It is time and money well spent. Not only is he a knowlegdeable fisherman, but he is a great teacher. As a bonus, he endures my bad sense of humor and acrid sarcasm.

I look forward to getting on the river with you again, Steve.

Thanks Beno and Gopher! Gopher…tell your wife my birthday is in Sept. Christmas will work though

I’ve heard from many people that his guided trips are worth more than every penny. I just seems that when I’m ready to go to P2…he takes off to Millacs. Or he’s booked the days I’m free.
One of these days he’ll have an opening …maybe I should just book one for next year now…then I know I can get in!

That would make it an all around fantastic year for me….5..6 lbs eye. I think I could retire but I won’t
