Great guide for cleaning fish Lawrence. Any photos on zippering them. Had a guy at Everts cleaning shack show me how to zipper last year and now all my fish get zippered. 20 years of cleaning fish and I learn something new about it. Go figure.
Zippering fish is taking the middle mud line out of each fillet that contains the redest meat and tiny bones. It is done by cutting 2 small lines along the center seam and then tearing the fillet length ways. Then tearing a second time to remove a .25″ wide section from the center of the fillet.
    Good eating.

I would love to see how “zippering” works. It sounds like a good idea.

Great Photos, Notice quite a bit of blood on the filets. Next time as you head into the resort/marina, slit the neck of each fish. When the fish are cleaned there is no blood at all. Quick spray of the board with a hose and the board is clean, no blood at all.

I was taught the zipper method years ago. I didn’t know there was any other way to clean a walleye. I really like the electric knife for cleaning my fish also. It takes a little getting used to taking the ribs out, but once you have that figured out, you’ve got her licked.

I’ll try to remember to take some step by step pics the next time I clean fish.

The same guy told me about bleeding the fish also. I thought bleeding the fish sure helped with loosing some of that muddy taste river fish can get. You are right about no blood while cleaning the fish also.
