Trempealeau Bite

Spent a few days fishing with old friends in Trempealeau and I would say fishing for any species down there is good to excellent. I fished walleye’s almost exclusively with K-grubs and was not dissapointed. Better size taken with the biggest being 24″. The crappie bite is great in the backwaters. Talked to a couple guys casting for pike and they caught 8 30″ and over on Thursday casting little cranks. Whenever I saw minnows chasing I would chuck a k-grub and pow, a nice smallie would come to the boat. Also a word of note to anyone looking for a nice fishing float to fish. The Trempealeau float is in great shape and in the best location a float can be, right off the main current break, over a wing damn with rip-rap on the shoreline. The sad part is no customers to fish it, I saw one guy there the two days we fished. And he caught lots of fish. Anyone looking for a great float to fish should check out this one. Hope to hit the river again soon, I’ve been away to long……

Yes Jason for about 10$ you get a boat ride to the fishing float and all day of fishing. Pretty cool if you dont own a boat or cant get around real good or just would like to fish for a day without alot of hassle. This float in particular is on a structual bonanza. The new owners fixed it up real nice. Also there are some real great shore fishing spots from the float, I wont give them up here, but if you do a little investigating you’ll locate them.
