Found out I have a blown engine today. 96 90 HP Johnson repairs from my mechanic estimated at $2500. Need some help from my friends at IDA.com Should I buy a new engine, a used one, repair my present motor. Input from all would be appreciated! This bites… wait all year for fall fishing and then this happens.

I would say look at the pocket book. and if you can afford it look into a good used motor. I got a real nice 40 at a dealer a year ago for 500. sometimes this time of year they will cut ya a deal. Good luck

Except if you buy a Johnson now..It is really a Suzuki..and you won’t go wrong..
I did the same with a 1995 Johnson a few years ago. Some dealers will fix; others send them in for repair and regarding the latter they are more expensive. I am not sure what you mean by a blown engine but if it involves one cylinder you can get it repaired much cheaper. I had mine fixed and it has run great since then.
