Is there much of a difference with the three lures?

I understand that each has a little difference in the design, but in actual usage, will one really out perform the other???

I’ve had better luck with the cicada through the ice, But in open water where there is current I’ve had better luck with the heavier Sonar. Why? Don’t know, probably has something to do with the action or size at different times of year.

    Gary,
You bet there is a difference between these three lures.
The Zip and Sonar are used in similar situations. Mostly in rivers or other areas with some current. You don’t have to have current but it is used in those situations most often.
The biggest difference between Zips and Sonars is the amount of pull required to get the blade vibrating.
The Zip requires much less pull than the Sonar.
I always carry both of these lures in my box. Some days the fish will want the more aggressive blade, (Sonar) and others the less aggressive blade. (Zip)
Both of these two lures pull alot of fish out of Lake Wisconsin for me.
I’ve yet to find a situation on the waters I fish where the Cicada will out fish the other two lures. As a matter of fact, I can hardly catch a fish on the Cicada at all.
If I remember correnctly, Tom Gursky likes the Cicada’s on the bodies of water he fish’s in.

Right on JWB! The slower currents in waters I fish dictate a slower presentation except when the bite is very aggressive…(then I use jigs/plastic) I need to use blades more…I do, I do, I do!

One big difference between sonars and zips is you can cast zips out and let them hit bottom, then bounce them back in. This has been very productive for me at times on current breaks or sand flats. Sonars tend to get fowled up or snag under this situation.

Ditto on the Zips…also the Cicadas…I cast them alot.
But they can also be very effective sorta rip jigged.
I usually stay vertical with a sonar.
