Last couple of days has been a blast…. walleye, sauger, northern….. both bass are starting to put on the feedbag BIGTIME),Nice Cats, some fresh water tarpon and drum, redhorse,Carp, gills the size of the fry pan, scads of white bass, and the first gator gars of the fall.

In the morning and the late afternoon/evening there are locations right now that you can catch so many bass you will get bored from 2-3.5lbs. It almost seems like they really don’t care what ,or what color you throw to them.

Guide dates are all booked up thru November so I will try to start rattling of more info and details as it seems important.

Multi-species bite staying solid Walleye/Sauger are in a different place almost everyday with a lot of 14-16 inchers….7 northern pike in less than an hour yesterday. Largest 2 were 38″ bookends. Bass holding very tight to lumber and other structure, best bite in partial shade and on 6-7inch T-rigged worms. Darker patterns are working best. Tough to get much of a crank bite going with most of my best wingdams blanketed with floating weeds nearly everyday. In areas without the weeds the N.Pike and stripers usually beat the Bass to the lure.
Catfish are still steady with the numbers down and the size up.

Another two days of guiding with pretty much the same results. Northern smaller, bass bigger and walleye/sauger better numbers.

Is all this floating grass and weeds I read about on the river end of year die off, or is from the high water??

The grass dies off and floats down every September, but the high water has to have had some effect on it because it seems worse than usual. Not a serious problem though cause there are lot’s of places to go without weed…noncurrent side of the channel, backwaters, many running sloughs… but still cuts a lot of great wingdams out of the picture.
