Going from past exrience the walleye bite is only going to increase until mid summer. It will slow up towards the dam. This will be from the fish leaveing the area and heading to there normal summer patterns. There will still be fish up at the dam year long but the fish that are there now may have come from as far away as pool 6. Keep in mind that there will be a period of time that the eyes and saugers will shut down right after spawn, due to the energy they had displace. Threre will be fish to be caught. For not all fish spawn at the same time. But during a certain period of time. So talk to the bait stores, people at the boat landings, and of course right here for up to the minute info.

    Good luck

You got it right Jigger,I’m retiring in June to fish full time. I’ll be spending a lot more time on this great fishery with the FTR

    crew.

It never ends. It actually gets better from here on out through the early summer. The bite just moves and the techniques change is all.

The fishing in the summer on pool 4 can be good. But if you think the current is tough for boat control wait till about June when the big yachts are at full speed ahead. Fishing on pool 4 at this time is more like fishing on Mille Lacs with a twenty mph wind. Constant wakes.———————–Hoop em’

I found that Walleyes tend to quit biting around midnight on December 31, Start again early in January (12:02 am on the first)…Maybee they’re singing, a new years cheer. Seriously In different years I have caught Walleye every month of the year. I don’t do so well in the middle of summer, but the fact that I fish bass exclusively Mid April – November has a lot to do with that. Don’t do so well when the waters hard either….

I think Jigger2001 nailed it pretty correctly. fish more down the system after spawning, I here some good stories during the summer in the south 1/2 of the lake. good luck.. Jack.
