When does the walleye and sauger fishing start heating at the dam usually?

On a normal year a guy will start to see decent numbers of saugers around the 3rd to 4th week in Sept. Walleye are there to be caught all year long.

With the river on the rise I would look for a good movement of fish in that time frame

The last week in Oct to the end of November is prime time

Nothing for any huge numbers right now, but people are getting a few up at the dam. Definitely not the fall bite yet. Very few people fishing up there right now. Dustin’s right on. Should pick up in 2-3 weeks and then only get better.

Fished Friday with not much luck. Caught 4 sheepies, 2 small sturgeons and lost about a 20-30 pound sturgeon. Had a couple of bites that seemed like walleyes/Saugers. More of an experiment trip for me, had my 2 year out on the boat to get him use to the area.
