I am looking to get some new trolling rod and reel set ups and was looking for some insight. I was thinking longer rods to get the baits out from the boat aways with out using boards. Thanks

What length do you prefer for trolling cranks. I am running 7′ now. Thanks for the link to their website.

My St. Croix Premier glass rod has accounted for 90% of my walleye catch this season. I love it. I use a Pflueger baitcaster when longlining/pitching cranks and a Gander Mountain Guide Series line counter when pulling leadcore. I simply switch reels if the need arises. The tip action is subtle enough to indicate crankbait performance and strikes, while the body has the stoutness to pull cranks at higher speeds or deal with the peculiarities of low-stretch leadcore. It has suited my weekend meat-fishing needs nicely.

    eye catcher,

I have just added two new St.Croix Tide Master rods to my boat..I have had these out a total of twice now and absolutly love them…they are 1 piece 7’6″ long with a medium power and a moderate action (TC76MM). I set these up with Daiwa’s Sealine SG27LCA-W line counter reels and the balance is perfect

I mostly troll the Mississippi River and also run dubuque rigs and they work the best…If you ever get up and out to the inland lakes and do some trolling you’ll find a lot of the guides fishing with these same set-ups…

    Good luck !!

I really llike the St. Croix Wild River. St. Croix Wild River A really nice rod is the 8.6 ft. Medium Power WC86MF2 rod which is a 2 piece rod teamed with an Okuma line counter reel or a Abu Garcia Ambassadaur 5600 C4 reel depending on what type of reel you want. St. Croix makes alot of rods that will make you a very satisfied customer. They can either be purchased factory made or have the same rod custom made from Hooked On Fishing in Rochester and he does ship rods.

    Thanks, Bill

    Dave and Bill
Are either of those rods(wild river, tide master) available in longer lengths(91/2ft-11ft)? I couldn’t find much from St. Croix in lengths over 8 ft.

I also have the 10.6 ft. St. Croix Wild River Rod model WC106MMF2 which is also a 2 piece rod. I have 2 each of both of the rods mentioned for running off of the sides of my boat as I fish the Mississippi River alot and you can run 2 rods per person so they work great for running the outside lines out aways and then running two lines closer in to the boat. Steve DeZuirk loves to run crankbaits on boards on these 10.6 rods from St. Croix. He did a product review on this site a couple years ago on these rods and after talking to him about them I got some. Thanks, Bill
