If you had just 1

if you had just 1 presentation available to you, what would it be. jig, 3 way, crank, etc. I was just wondering what is the most popular presentation used on the river year-round. I know they change depending on the season, but i’m basically trying to get everyone’s opinion on what is their favorite presentation. I personally would choose a #7 clown shad rap. I have the most confidence in shad raps and when you need to cover ground to find fish nothing is better than pulling a rap.

I would have to pick a jig. ..it is the most verstile lure out there in my opinion….Just about everything on the river u can catch with a jig… The only fish i can think of that i havent caught on a jig is a Paddle Fish..an thats only cause they dont eat minnows….they eat microscopic stuff like plankton…but the three way wont be far beyond the jig……..

wow… he limits himself to #7 clown shad rap……

and the rest of us take “jig”… I like our odds!!.. we sure have lots of wiggle room!! plastics, hair, tipped….. then all the variations and sizes on top of that!…. and if we are sneaky enough we can even use them on 3 ways as dubuque rigs…..

guess ya better have a tackle box that weighs more than the average deep cycle battery… (and I do!)

I would have to go with the jig as well. This is the most versatile bait know to anglers around the world. You can fish it so many different ways I don’t have time to list them all in this post. Second would have to be a #5 Shad Rap, 3rd a Rattle Trap, any color!

I’m gonna have to go with the flow on this one and say a jig. There are so many ways to present and doctor the presentation that I’d never feel “stranded” in my possibilities going with the jig. IMHO, it’s the obvious choice if choosing to limit one’s self to just one availability. Still a fun question though!

I would have to vote for the jig also. By changing size( wieght) tails, colors ect. you can meet any condition or need. Put on a minnow , crawler, or fish it with just hair or a tail, you can almost always give the fish something they want.

    If I had just one–Dynamite?

Definately a jig, I actually catch most of my fish on a shad rap, however limited to just one, year round the jig can be presented SO many ways..you have to go with it.

    3 way rig.

3 ways and cranks. 3 ways and floaters. 3 ways and aberdeens/bait.

The jig would be a close second and i do prefer to fish jigs but the # ways would be just about impossible to get by without.

For my river fishing and the times of the year I get down there, It has to be the JIG, ( fireball, chartreuse, 3/8 oz, stinger hook tied myself #10 treble in the tail of a 3 inch minnow, minnow the bigger the better. Jack.

I would have to go with James on this one.

for sure a 3-way rig but a jig wouldn’t be far behind.

3-way for me also but it is more fun to catch them with a jig.

Three ways and anything following it. Super simple, and effective.

    Jigs come in second.

If only one, I would also have to have a jig.

I have to agree with James, 3 ways pulling almost anything. I have taken nice fish pulling ringworms/bullet nose jigs on a 3 way…..is that a jig or a 3 way?????? Jigging would be second. Lake fishing the #1 method would be rigging, and crankin’ would be second.

as a river fisherman for 30 plus years it has to be the JIG when it comes to size and quantity nothing compares!

ok, I lost my head for a minute on the shad rap thing. I agree with everyone else, if you limited me to one thing the whole year it would be a jig. I might stick with the shad rap if it were solely summer fishing and with the warm weather this week I lost my mind when I posted this.

No, great question, perfect for this site. Hmmmm. Interesting to note what all the EFN Pro-Staff guys said when answering that question. To a man it appeared to be 3 ways as the #1 choice. Maybe us jig guys (and gals), self included, should take note. Just an observation.

yes.. I WOULD heed what the EFN pro-staff said… 3-ways are probably the easiest most effective way to fish IF your boat control is excellent….. and guess what… these guys do HAVE excellent boat control….. tune your boat control and your presentation will be right ON….. I have been suprised just how easy 3-ways can be at times… and how hard at others… sometimes you have to have everything JUST right… I guess its the same with jiggin… but Ive done so MUCH more of that…… heres the thing…. for sure it dont hurt to be the guy doing something different… when you have 80-90% of the boats jiggin (and take a look at all of our replies if you want some percentages!)…. then pulling a 3-way is a different look (totally)…… and it can really pay off…… with 3-ways you even have versatility maybe even more than with jigs… because you can pull ANYTHING… even JIGS!!… my biggest fish ever was taken on a JIG… but it was on a DUBUQUE RIG!!! (a 3 way)….. so you can even use jigs with a 3-way…. now Im NOT going to change my vote…. but its more because I like jiggin better then I like 3-ways… thats only perference.. NOT performance!!! for some silly reason I feel Im more in control with a jig… but in reality… IF Im driving the boat…. Im in just a much control with a 3-way….. it just doesnt feel like it…..

I would go with a 3 way rig also. This gives The the best of

all that listed here. You can use any combo you want.

    Jig/Floater, Jig/Crank bait, ETC.

This just shows what everyone has the most confidence in.
