I’ve been out 1 day in nearly 6 weeks but from what I’m hearing, it’s SLOW!

Been out 3 times in the last 2 weeks, will have a report up tonight. Have had a lot of other things going on and spare time has not been in abundance for me .

Things have been very sporadic on pool 4 for me on the last couple of outings . Fish can be caught just not in huge numbers like we were seeing 3-4 weeks ago.

When do you predict the bite will pick up with these cool temps???

If it is to cool off again here real soon I think we are going to see a great late Sept, early October bite, unlike last year. The fishing on the past few trips for me has been more like what we experience in mid Sept to early Oct on a normal year………..very sporadic from one day to the next with a good day on the water being a 2 man limit of fish and the next day your lucky to get 6 eaters to the boat .

I am already seeing “big schools” of shad in the shallows. The walleye won’t be far behind

    Thanks Dustin.

So, at the beginning of the “Sept” bite, are these fish in the same locations, feeding, where I would of found them in May/June?

Or, should I start looking at rock right away??? Once this pattern starts, is it worth while to keep working the back channel???

I’ve been out a couple of times the past couple of weeks on 4 and haven’t had very good luck. You can catch the eyes here and there. I’ve done good on bass just not as good as I’d like and panfish are really slow too.

A lot of the areas you find fish in May and June will hold fish in Sept and Oct. The back channel can be very good in Sept and I have had some awsome days in Oct back there .

Once the water temps get down in to the 60’s the rock bite can be very good with cranks being the primary bait of choice, for me anyway. Once the water temps hit low 60’s to low 50’s we will see a good mix of cranks, plastic and hair jigs. Once the water temps drop in to the upper 40’s the shallow crank bite really dies off and the plastic and hair will take over. Casting cranks will still produce in the upper 40’s but once the water temps reach that level you seem to have fish holding a bit deeper during mid day in those 6′ plus depths. It’s a lot more efficient to cover several depths of the water colum with a jig

You answered the pattern I was shooting for perfect.

Thanks man! I will see you on the water in a couple of weeks…….And I will have a cold one for ya!!!

well was out the last three days on the river and the fall bite is starting in full swing for us the fishing was excellent the last three days not a ton of big fish but have seen a few to the boat with all other fish coming in at 18-20″ verticl jigging and dragging jigs have been best fished the Bluffs tourney today and could not find any big ones but a solid average weighed a limit weighing 16lbs but the fishing was awesome the two of us caught 35 legal walleyes between 17-20″ fall fishing is on its way.

    Nate,

Were you fishing the river sections or the lake? I fished the Pool 3 wingdams Sunday morning but didn’t find much.

    Thanks,

I was fishing the river don’t spend to much time on the lake I was targeting large sand flats in the main channel and timber in the back waters.
