Hey all. This is only my second year fishing the river, and I have never fished upper pool 4 in the fall. I was wondering what were some techniques and general areas to fish in September through late October. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jigs and plastics, big plastics will work well. Ringworms, Kalins etc…. Search on some of James/Dustin’s old reports from a year ago or was it two years ago those guys had the bonanza?? If you read their reports, you will see technique is key to their success, jig weights, line diameter, slow fall of the bait etc…. Upper 4 can put out some real monsters in the fall.

Casting cranks first and then as the water cools we go plastics and hair. Think shallow. Think rock and rip rap.

Think Shallow? Now I hate to be difficult but how shallow would that be? Don’t worry about me I’m still learning about these walleyes.

The biggest walleyes I caught last fall came pitching jig/ringworm to rip rap, less than 3′ of water. This is best in low light, early or late in the day or heavy overcast, wind with waves.

Wow I wouldn’t have even thought that shallow, thanks I’ll remember that. This is the best site in the world and I think it shows how friendly fishermen (and Ladies) can be.
