Has anyone been having any luck in the Pool 4 back channel? I read the report in Outdoor News saying nice walleyes were being caught in the Goose Lake area. From what I’ve seen and heard there have not been many boats fishing the back channel.

we fished the goose lake area on friday and never caught a fish. We really didn;’t graph a whole lot either. I know the fish are back there we just didn’t have time to find them. We did watch 3 really nice walleyes (all over 7lbs) get caught right by the back channel launch in a eddy along the lauch shoreline. good luck

That’s a good point since the fish really aren’t grouped up in that area yet. I don’t think that area would be in any articles already. I’m not sure what other goose lake it could be however. any ideas? like I said we were there friday with only 1 other boat and did not find any fish. There were a ton of boats out friday so if they were catching fish there they would have been at the goose lake i know of.

I know in the past that the report for “Red Wing” in ODN refers to the Goose Lake off the back channel. Someon posted last week asking if you needed a Wisc. license to fish in Goose Lake. I’ve always fished the channel outside of Goose but have heard people going back into the lake itself. Maybe someones been back there in the past and can tell us what’s back there?

you do not need a wisc license to fish back there. boundary waters run from railroad track to railroad track on both sides of the river i believe. When the water is high I have heard of people fishing back there, but other than that it is real shallow and probably full of carp.

    Hey Steve

I have been back there a few times and there is a great big 40-50 hole and on the edges of that can be good also there is some rock shoreline back there that can be good also.

    talk to you later

Hey Steve, I checked it out last Friday and not only did I “Not” find any fish but there wasn’t a single boat back there. Also checked some of the other spots in the backwaters and found nothing. Bill
