As Gianni mentioned, you can’t really seperate speed from weight. Go faster, you’ll need more weight. Slower, you can get by with less. Also the baits pulled behind the 3-way make a big difference too. Stickbaits need a heck of a lot more weight than a plain aberdeen hook and crawler.
This past week I was using 4 – 6 ounce weights to run stickbaits, mostly #11 floating raps, in 14′ – 18′ feet of water. When I would move shallow, I would move to 4 ounce weights to adjust for the drease in depth.
