Dinosaur and I headed down to Prescott this morning to hoping to find a few walleyes or saugers but came up empty. We fished from the railroad bridge down to the end of the No Wake zone concentrating on areas of reduced current. We tried jigs, three ways, and cranks. We also fished the wing dams below the No Wake zone but didn’t find anything there either.
About mid morning we ran up to the bay behind the Kinny beach hoping to find some crappies warming themselves in the shallower water but we didn’t catch anything there either. Surprisingly there was still a lot of ice floating around, some really big sheets, when we went up. But about 90 minutes later when we were heading back down most all of the ice was gone. The sun and wind really melted it fast.
The water temp in front of the docks at Prescott was 38 F and the water was still really quite clear. Maybe some warmer Mississippi water would have held some walleyes.
Just a side note…. The Prescott police are already enforcing the ramp fee.
Anybody having any luck on the backwaters of Pool 3 lately? It looked like a few boats were headind down that direction.
Good Luck,
Boone
