Fishing is beginning to pick up a little more each day,” said Mark Clements, co-owner of Clements Fishing Barge below the lock and dam at Genoa, Wis.
“With the warmer weather we are starting to catch quite a few sauger as they move in,” Clements said. “The big female walleyes are showing up in the afternoons. Several were thrown back in the 4- to 6-pound range and a couple in the 8-pound size.”
Clements said most walleyes and sauger are being caught on jigs, although some anglers are using just a plain minnow on a hook.
Clements said anglers are also starting to catch perch.
