spent friday and saturday on pool 14 chasing walleyes. friday was a hard bite, caught three sauger trolling the clambeds and zero fish on the wingies. trolled cranks and pitched jigs/crawlers/leeches. didn’t get on the water until 1pm on friday and most of my ‘go to’ spots were being fished.
saturday morning was on the water by 6:30am and the first wingdam we hit we pulled in a nice 17″ with a crank and then pitched jigs and put a nice 14″ sauger in the boat. it was hit and miss the rest of the day. we did manage 7 eaters and several short fish and one 23″. the majority were caught on cranks either on wingdams or trolling riprap. didn’t catch a single fish on the clambeds. last saturday i caught a nice mess of big sauger all on the clambeds. just goes to show ya, ya never know!
