Sunday August 1st, 1 pm., just returned from 5 hours on the river. The walleye bite was very good. Fished wing dams, nightcrawlers caught the walleye, leeches caught small channel catfish. The two walleyes were 29 1/2 in. and 27 in., and came on two straight casts. Quite a treat, two good fish on two casts. Big fish were released, kept 2 smaller fish for the table. Dams with a good current flow were the hot spot. No action after 15-20 minutes moved to another location.

Hooser, were you running the night crawlers on spinner rigs or how were you running them. How long of snells or leeds were you using? I was out on Sunday morning as well. Working dams to the south on pool 8, nothing big but still caught a few fish. All fish were from 18-22″. Nothing small though??? That was fine, also had one nice smally, 3.15lbs. Couple magnum sheephead too. Only rand cranks on Sunday. Usually run some live bait but was just basically checking dams to see where the fish were. Haven’t been out the last week or so.

I have not been able to boat a big fish in 4-5 weeks. Last fish was 6.8lbs. Been catching lots of fish though.

    Fishing any back channels?
