    Hello,
I do a fair share of trolling for walleyes and was wondering which are the best rod holders available. I would hate to buy one and have it break and loose the hole rod and reel.

I just purchase the ones that come in a two pack at Fleet Farm for around $20. Have had them for years and never had an issue.

These puppies where made for White Sturgeon and Salmon out in Oregon. They will keep your rods in the boat!

Check with Everts, Four Seasons, Joes Sporting Goods for in stock information.

I use scottys for Walleyes.I also troll Muskies with them, using planer boards and never have had any break. If I were to do it again and could justify the expense, Folbes would be my choice. Not bed when you only have to buy a couple. But buying 8-10 gets very expensive. I’ve had cannons and RAM and don’t like either.

I’ve had Scotty’s, Ram, and a few others on my boats in the past.
With my new Skeeter, I bought the Folbe Advantage jrs.
Easily the strongest rod holder of all the ones I’ve owned.

Like Joel and Brian I have the full size Folbe rod holders (4 count), this year I am going get a couple of the ones Joel mentioned .

Once you get used to getting the rod out, there are slick and dont damage rod handles either.

I use Folbe too. Great rod holders. Sturdy, easy, do what they are supposed to do and I can bang them around with any worry.

I don’t know if they are the “best” but they are probably right up there.

I have used the Folbe and I am getting them for my boat as well. I would recommend them and agree with Trumar.

So what are the difference between the regulars and the advantage JRs? Would the JRs fit normal walleye trolling rods?

I love my tight-locs. They’re strong enough for a dipsy rod, so may be a little overkill for Walleye. However, if you’re considering multi-specie they (or other aluminum holders) may be worth a look.

The new JR Rod Holder is made for – Spinning – Casting – Trolling – Two Handed Fly Rods and the regular Folbe rod holder I believe is made for just casting reels and a bit longer if I remember right.

    Folbe Advantage Jr. Rod Holder

Smaller, yet every bit as strong as the original Advantage rod holder, the Jr. is perfect for panfish, walleye and salmon. Holds rods up to 1-1/4″ diameter.

    Folbe Advantage Rod Holder

Built extremely tough, the Advantage can take years of abuse and has more than enough strength to wrestle with everything from trout and walleye to muskie and sturgeon. Holds any rod up to 1-1/2″ diameter.

I’ve been using them for trolling walleyes so far. Boards, flat lines and lead core.

I’m impressed enough that I wouldn’t be afraid to used them for salmon fishing although I won’t claim they can or can’t hold a dipsy rod. I already have rod holders for that so I probably won’t ever try putting a dipsy in one.

The Folbe Advantage Jr held up just fine when this big girl hit last weekend though.

I’ve had most (not all) of the others. These are definitly stronger than Scotty’s. Not even a fair comparison actually.

I have been using Driftmasters for 5 years now, the Duo Pro model. Very nice for all types of fishing, probably the strongest out there-1/2″ steel rod. They have many different models.

Of course! It’s not the best photo of your rod holders, but it works.

These are the full size Folbe Advantages.

The only other holder that comes close is the Monster holder because a person doesn’t have to pull the rod out of the holder over the water. Folbe wins out because of the accessories that are available.

With the extensions and other mounts they can be placed anywhere a person likes them.

I don’t know how many holders I’ve sold after folks have used them in my guide boat.

I have a lund 2025 with the sport trak, and was going to try drilling into the plate instead of drilling into my boat. Has any tried that and worked well?

I use Scotty holders and flush mounts on my fish and ski. Work great, are well made and 0 issues in the years I’ve used them.

I’ve got four of the holders in my boat, in the picture you can see the rods and two of the four flush mounts on the back of the deck.

Tried out the new to me Folbe Jr’s. With a bit of a twist in the design they’re going to work great for spinning rods as well as bait casters.

They excel when using long rod handles.

For an up close and right side up view click on the photo.

There’s no lifting out over the water with a Folbe, just lift straight out of the holder.

I had a chance to see BK’s Folbe jr’s and I love them, As I stated earlier I have 4 of them and I will soon be trading them out for the new Folbe jr’s.

I couldnt believe how easy they opened right out of the box and I am excited to know they made to work with a spinning rod also.

Cant wait to get my 4 new ones !
