I was fishing with my 8 year old son on pool 13 yesterday. He caught several bass and his first doggie too. He also caught what I think was a walleye but it look like a perch too. It was about 9-10 inches long and had about 4 vertical stripes like a perch but color looked more like walleye. It had nothing that resembled teeth in its mouth so I was kind of confused.

I’m a sounthern boy who has had little experience with Walleye, so sorry if this seems like an odd question. Because the fish was caught in a slack water slough, it had no theeth, and it had the stripes I though maybe it was a just a perch. Are young walleyes toothless?

Sorry no picture. It didn’t start bugging me till the drive home.

Even the smallest eyes I’ve ever caught have distinct teeth. I’m talking about babies too.

I latched into a 5.5″ eye on a 3″ jig last week and he had teeth.

But remember-walleye teeth fall out once a year and the stop biting. Maybe this was the case.
