Had no problems this weekend catching saugers but no eyes pulling cranks. 15 fow was the key for them. Is there a general rule that once you found the saugers is to go deeper our shallower for the eyes our does it matter.

The walleye are usually found in shallower water than the sauger on Pepin. This time of year I typically start in 8 foot of water when trolling and go shallower from there.

Found walleyes in 9 to 10 fow today. Saugers were deeper as you mentioned.

    X2

We put about 15 walleye in the boat fishing a flat in about 10-11 feet of water.

So, who was the IDO member fishing out of Hok-Si-La(sp?)this morning? I noticed the IDO decals on the topper.

If this was the rig you saw that was me.

You guys did better then I did all I could manage was a few short walleyes and sheephead.

My Wife pulled in this monster sheepie on Memorial weekend, I thought for sure we had a monster eye on the line.

I think trolling speed made a big difference for us on that day. I was passing other boats who didn’t seem to be catching much.

I saw that rig Monday. It was nice to meet and chat with you, Steve. I rarely use the kicker on Pepin, to try and avoid the sheepies. 2.5-2.7mph keeps most sheephead off the lines. Lots of small saugers Monday, with a few keepers. We worked 12′ and less.

One of our members was trolling and catching fish at 4.5 mph at the head of the lake.
