I fished pool 4 for the first time last weekend and noticed alot of people pulling boards in the maiden rock area. I caught all of my fish on leadcore and shad raps and tried my boards but didn’t get any fish on them. My question is are you targeting suspended fish or are you using snap weights or segmented leadcore to get at fish on the bottom 
Very often the guys using boards will be targeting suspended fish.
Thats correct James is right.The key is to know what depth your lure runs with a certain type of line and how far back.The other advantage is the fish dont get as spooked when the baits off to the side.
I have used boards there twice with great success. The fish were in relatively shallow water so the boards kept the lures away from the boat. Most fish came on boards in that situation.
