i am interested in trying some #6 and #8 husky jerks on 3- Ways down on the river. would use them regular and on double stick rigs. Interested because of the different color schemes available in the HJ. any trouble with these because of their suspending nature vs floating of the original rapala?

Husky jerks run basically the same depths as original floaters at most speeds. The big difference is when the bait is stopped.

True. And now that I think about it the baits in the river never really stop because of the current. they are always digging. so suspending never comes into play.

You might have to go with a longer dropper on the HJ’s . They do tend to run deeper than the original rapalas . I do like the colors of the HJ’s better . I do have a guy that custom paints the originals for me though . I’ve pulled a lot of stick baits on 3 ways and it seems you just can’t beat the original raps .

I also think the Husky Jerks tend to run a little deeper.

You can make a husky jerk floating by drilling a small hole in the top and hitting it with a small shot of foam spray. SMALL shot. Then seal the hole with a little D2T (devcon 2 ton epoxy).

Been a well known trick for making crankbaits into wakebaits.

I’ve had some decent luck with the “Huskey’s” but it can’t even come close to the success with the originals !! The little pink ones are my favorite
