Advice for Hastings rookie?

I’m taking my sister’s boyfriend and his cousin out tomorrow evening to try and catch some eyes somewhere near Hastings…my boat, their location.

Anyway, anything/place going hot in that area right now? I’m currently planning on pulling three ways with bait and raps. I’m hoping the heat wave hasn’t shut ’em down!

How about a landing near that area with a dock? The limp part of my name is for real (unlike the rest of it) and I struggle a bit without the dock.
Thanks for your help guys, I’ve never been to this area and want the guy to become a brother-in-law…talk about pressure to put fish in the boat

Hey Pimp! Prescot has a nice dock and landing $10.will get you launched.
As far as the “hot spot” goes…I’m not up on what’s happening right now, but I can give you some spots to try….If someone else posts to this …use their info.
On the Croix, after the bridge pull you’re 3 ways along the left/west break. Follow the break all the way around to the swimming beach area..(bring binoculars ) On the way back, use raps and cut across flats back to the bridge. Go to the North side of the Steamboat dock…I would lidy rig a worm/fathead here.
Depending on boat traffic I would spend sometime working the channel watching for the water edges going around the two bridges.

These are the first areas I would try if I was heading down that way..no, now that I think about it….the wing dams on the sippi just down stream of Prescott would be the first place I would try.The ring worm and jig would be the first plan…then raps along the face of the dams…(It gets spendy fishing wings with raps!)

Good luck and tell us how you do…both fishing and in the brother in law dept.

    BK,

Thanks for your help, unfortunately I never made it down to Hastings…it was possibly the most comical/horrible night of my life.
My battery died on the way down HWY 61 and I ended up shelling out $400 for a new alternator. Then, while waiting for that to be done we decided to fish the croix in Hudson instead since it was closer to home and the mechanic shop. So we drop in, start up the motor and are about to hit the river when I smell something funny I just had my boat re-wired last week and apparently they screwed something up royaly because I had shorts everywhere and if I hadn’t pulled all the lines off the battery I probably would have had a fire

At this point I figured I could either drown myself or use the trolling motor to try and salvage the night…so we headed underneath the 94 bridge, anchored and tossed jigs for about 90 minutes. We ended up with three ‘eyes without any of the typical St. Croix mixed bag to go with them.
Fortunately I made it home without getting struck by lightning or eaten by bigfoot, but the way the night was going I wouldn’t have been surprised
