Well we were humbled today. We showed up at Everts around 6, got some intel and headed out into the high water. Whew. Froze our butts off and threw everything at em. One nice 24 inch eye (safely released) and one snagged gar (fun to see) and that was it. Still beats a day at the office. And at least I got some good practice loading the boat in fast current.

Even tried out a limit creek rod at everts. Wow. Gotta save my pennies and get me one.

We were also out yesterday. Using an older model of boat, man that current was tough. Went all day without a bite and had some difficulty putting the boat on the trailer. I guess you are only learning when you have days like that! anyone have any ideas how to approach that strong of current with darkish water? or should i just stay home next time..

We also made it out yesterday and had to work hard for them. Our best fish came pitching blades to shallow water. Sure was nice once that sun came out!

Nice fish! Sun? Boy. Wish it had come out when we were there.

We tried blades with no luck. Though we are by no means blades experts. My only eye came on Dubuque rig/plastic. And yeah. Very tough current.

I approach landing in fast current by angling the trailer downstream if possible. That way current is less at a 90 and more like a 45 degree angle? Problem with this is that the wheels/bunks might be unlevel. But it will make fighting the current easier.

That would be an indicator that you might have been fishing in the wrong spot.

Find slack water meeting faster water and you’ll be on the right track.
