State Record Sauger?

    John caught this sauger this morning while on Pool 4 with Guide Denver McKinnon.

    Take a gander at this 23.5 inch Sauger!

    I’m sure there will be more info on it once Denver gets back to Everts.

    Whoa, what a monster. Denver is a stand up guy and a great guide. Somebody in his boat pulling a tank like that doesn’t surprise me at all.

    That is a great Sauger BK…There have been some over the years caught on P-4 larger but CPRed. Mike Anderson, I believe, caught one close to 9lbs. It was the Evrts banner pic for quite a while. I have caught a 24 (2006) and Al Erickson a 25.25″ the same November.
    I congratulate Denver and the lucky angler.

    Thanks BK, that was a typo… Never weighed my 24″ pot belly spawner…Als was just over 6 lbs…I’ll try to find those pics…

    John will have to keep on trying.

    Denver reported her at 5.8 lbs. Still a personal best that will be hard to come close too.

    Huh… had no idea that was the state record. I caught one 24 quite a few years ago in Lacrosse… Didn’t have quite the bulging belly of the record but didn’t have a clue it would even be close.

    Fun to see those pot belly pigs! Keep up the good work

    Dandy! Nice to see some of those babies are still in there.

    Doubt it’s a state record though.

    If it is, that state record has been broken a zillion times down there. 22-23 or 24″ sauger used to be caught with some regularity, remember?

    If records went by length only it would have eclipsed the WI State record.

    It was either 23 1/2″ or 23 3/4″ not positive and 6lbs. even.

    Nice fish! A few years ago we caught 3 out on the lake that ranged from 23-24 inches, but were all post spawn.

    Wow! I’m currently staring at a blank Helix screen on a southern lake. Where you got good ice on P4 i assume. Frontenac, maiden rock?

    Beautiful fish morel. Pics do it quite well, she’s a tub

    Looks a bit saugeye to me but I rarely fish down there.

    Caught and released 24″ 6lb 6oz pool 4 fishing with the pastor of our local church, figured he was a reliable witness. Enjoy she’s still out there!
