Ok folks I was planning a trip up to p4 this spring but do to personal thing I can not make it up this spring. Which sucks cause it seems to be producing some monster fish. I have vacation the end of august into the beginning of september. How is the walleye bite up there at that time? I know down here on pool 14 its pretty slow so I just target catfish. I figured if I made it up there then I could try for eyes but if all else fails I can always find cats. So lets here it. How is the late summer early fall bite up there?

Normally the fall migration out of the lake doesn’t start until the end of September at the earliest.

So that means there are more fish in the Lake.

Channels, Flats and Shovelnose Sturgeon can be awesome that time of year.

Live bait on the tips of wingdams should be going at that time. Check out ido’s dog day walleye video.

Probably some of the toughest fishing of the year to be honest, although for southern Minnesota, it is probably your best bet around.
But you should be able to snag a few in Pepin on leadcore or like said, maybe the bottom end of the pool on wingdams, etc.

Been a lot of sunfish and crappies the last few year also and they might be worth targeting that time of year.
