Wonder if any body could steer me in the right direction. Will be fishing the river for the first time saturday. was wondering how the fishing has been. Where should a guy start.who would you recommend for a guide? Thanks

The wing dams have been producing most of my walleyes lately…I have also heard that the back slough holes have a lot of fish in them yet too…just hook up a light jig and a crawler and drag it through the deeper holes…

    Good Luck !!

Thanks for the report Dave. I may have to do some camping Friday night and give 10 a try this weekend. 9 gave up some fish for me last weekend, but 10 is a tad closer to home and I’d like to spend some time learning it in addition to 9. My son is chomping at the bit to get out, so I think he’ll be tagging along with me.

What would you recommend as a decent ramp in the Marquette/Harper’s Ferry area?

The ramp, under the highway 18 bridge in Marquette is good.

Noble’s Island would put you about dead center between Marquette and Harper’s and it has a good ramp and parking… Relatively close camping is available in Yellow River State Forest or Andy’s Mountain…
